Running the Race

1 Cor. 9:24

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize?
Run in such a way that you may win.”

One of the simplest pieces of advice I give people all the time is; “Do things that will get you where you want to go – and stop doing things that are not getting you where you want to go.”

Why do we keep doing stupid things, or wasting time doing the least important things that don’t get us where we want to go.  God is telling us that everybody is running, so run in the way that will get you to the prize.

And… what is the prize?

Ultimately, the prize is God Himself, for eternity.  But while we are still here… we have a lot to do.  What you will find is that the only purpose that matters, is helping others achieve their purpose.  That’s true leadership

Years ago I learned that lesson.  Through my pride and wanting to look good before my leaders, I kept shooting down a co-worker that I felt threatened by.  God convicted me about that and it changed my life forever.  I KNEW from that point forward, that my purpose was to raise everyone else up to become and attain more than I ever could.

This is called Servant Leadership.  Or… Leadership with Purpose.

What is your purpose?  If you haven’t yet discovered it, God has told us in the life manual. The BIBLE.

One of the easiest instructions is this one:

“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
