Trials and Perspective

Hebrews 12:11-13 New Living Translation (NLT)
11 “No trial is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained by the trials.”

So… today my wife was seeing a patient, (she’s a hospice nurse.) When she got back to the car, she put her phone on the roof of the car while putting things in the back seat…. and then drove off.

You know the story… iPhone on the road somewhere.

So Steph calls me very upset…. thinking I may be very frustrated and even angry, ( I don’t one why…) My reaction?  It’s a phone don’t worry!

She just left the house of someone on hospice… dying.

She didn’t get in an accident.
We are not currently on hospice.
I have the means to replace the phone.
I have God in my life … and He is faithful
I live in a beautiful place on earth
I’m going to heaven when I die by the grace of Jesus Christ.
I am not homeless
I am 66 years old in good health
I was lost but now I am found
I am blessed beyond measure
I have purpose in my life
…
…

My perspective changed immediately.  I was so grateful I couldn’t be upset one iota about the phone. Steph was freed up about the phone as well as I didn’t freak out and calmed her in an already stressful day.

This is how God can change your perspective in an instant… if we will let Him.
