Deuteronomy 30:19. “ Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”
Clearly we are given choices in life to make. In those choices lie our destiny. There are a few things God is not going to do. One, is follow us. Two, is make choices that only we can make.
Within those choices are life, living in purpose and destiny. – or death, perhaps wandering or stumbling through life, purposeless, hopeless, a tragic existence.
Two things have always struck me ; that God has to tell us to choose life. Why? Because of our propensity to choose the opposite. Two, that He takes the guesswork out of it by giving us the right choice… don’t even have to think about it.
So why so often do we not choose life? Ego. We think we know better. Even though the bad results of our choices are evident, we insist on living our own way. In Proverbs 1 it says “ if you persist in living your own way, you will eat the bitter fruit of living your own way and experience the full terror of the pathway you have chosen.
The addiction to self will is the most devastating of all. Other addictions are the fruit of us living our own way. But all it takes, at any point is to choose life, and he will turn things around for you.
Choose my own way or Gods. My way leads me to dead ends. His way leads to life.
