James 1:8 States; ” The double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” And that he should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
There is a statement in recovery circles; “Half measures avail us nothing.” So when you are double minded, you only have half of whatever it’s going to take to get where you really want to go. If you are compromising your values, integrity, commitments etc, then you cannot expect to get the fruitful results that you would if you were 100% on board.
This does not implicate perfection all of the time… nor does is not take into consideration process. What it does indicate is the condition of the heart. When the heart is divided, the results are compromised.
Many of us want our cake, and we want to eat it too. We somehow think we deserve to do that. Seldom do we see that it’s an indicator of a double minded heart. If your heart is divided, you cannot have an entire anything. It’s the same thing with shortcuts. We want shortcuts to things , but somehow don’t understand we will have a “cut” version of a result.
If you want all the best that God has for you, submit your heart fully to Him to expose your double mindedness… then strap on your seatbelt as he reveals all the areas you are double minded.
