“Those Who Succeed the Most, Fail the Most” Part Four of the Signorelli 2020 Learning Challenge

Brennan Manning has many powerful practical quotes that I always remember.

“The most mature people I have met along the way are those who have failed and have learned to live gracefully with their failure.”

” The lives of those fully engaged in the human struggle will be riddled with ‘bullet holes.’ To think the the natural and proper state is to be without wounds is an illusion. Those who wear bulletproof vests to protect themselves from shipwreck and failure will never know what unconditional love is.”

And finally…

“Hope knows that is great trials are avoided, great deeds remain undone, and the possibility of growth into greatness of soul is aborted.”

I seriously ascribe to these truths. I have shared for years with the scores of people I work with that most of my “expertise” comes from my own failings, and receiving the goods from others who have helped and lead me to navigate through my failures, and allow them to be my testimonies and successes. Not only in my own life, but in the lives of those I am blessed to help.

Henry Nouwen said, “we don’t sit as those who have all the answers… we journey together towards light and liberation.”

Thank you Mike and Julie for your 2020 learning points. I keep learning that my failures need not be defeats, but stepping stones to the ever increasing future God has for me to mature in, step by step.
