What Are You Waiting For? With Bill Hoffman

What are you waiting for?

Am I suggesting that we should always haphazardly just jump into everything that presents itself to us without wisdom and discernment, accountability or counsel? Of course not.  What I am referring to is this… it’s a variant of “destination disease.” When I get there… then.  I can’t do this until this happens.  This is one of the biggest deterrents to moving forward in one’s life that there is.  It is not wisdom based, but fear based.

At core level, we only have now.  The reason that “now” may not appear to be “the time”, is because now is part of another word… no-where. Nowhere land sounds unpredictable, undesirable, unsure, not guaranteed, ( as if anything is.) Nowhere indicates no movement, lost, immobilized.

But NOW is part of another hyphenated word, NOW-HERE.  Now and here.  Right here and right now is really all we have.  Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is not guaranteed.  Right now and right here is where we can discover our truest selves, God, and all the things that are a part of our makeup, namely, our “why and purpose.”

If you are always chasing the ever present dangling carrot in front of you, you will miss whats right here and right now staring you in the face.

There is an old Moody Blues song called “Watching and Waiting”, which inspired my message today.

“Watching and waiting
For a friend to play with

Why have I been alone so long
Mole he is burrowing his way to the sunlight
He knows there’s some there so strong
‘Cause here there’s lot of room for doing
The things you’ve always been denied
Look and gather all you want to
There’s no one here to stop you trying
Soon you will see me
‘Cause I’ll be all around you (I look at this as God is all around me NOW).
But where I come from I can’t tell (Lost my way).
But don’t be alarmed by My fields and My forests
They’re here for you to share
‘Cause here there’s lot of room for doing
The things you’ve always been denied
So look and gather all you want to
There’s no one here to stop you from trying”
If you read these lyrics in a correct light, you will see hope realized, that I have all I need, it is not out there somewhere so illusive that I cannot find it.  I am looking in the wrong places… “then”, “when”, “if”…
Now and here (nowhere), is the place it can all happen. Where there seems to be no way, is the place where there IS a way.  That’s actually the signal, the doorway to the next place, though it appears to be the opposite. Problem is we look at that door, and say, “no I can’t do that UNTIL this happens, etc. etc.
Now is the time, today is the day. Yes it will take faith to believe and take these steps, and please do it with wisdom, counsel and guidance, but don’t let it hold you back any longer either.
EIS can help you grow into these new realities.  Your life is a life to be discovered and engaged in.  It’s not a straight path, it’s a winding road. If you keep demanding it be straight and clearly defined BEFORE you move, you might be waiting quite a long time.
