What are you waiting for?
Am I suggesting that we should always haphazardly just jump into everything that presents itself to us without wisdom and discernment, accountability or counsel? Of course not. What I am referring to is this… it’s a variant of “destination disease.” When I get there… then. I can’t do this until this happens. This is one of the biggest deterrents to moving forward in one’s life that there is. It is not wisdom based, but fear based.
At core level, we only have now. The reason that “now” may not appear to be “the time”, is because now is part of another word… no-where. Nowhere land sounds unpredictable, undesirable, unsure, not guaranteed, ( as if anything is.) Nowhere indicates no movement, lost, immobilized.
But NOW is part of another hyphenated word, NOW-HERE. Now and here. Right here and right now is really all we have. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is not guaranteed. Right now and right here is where we can discover our truest selves, God, and all the things that are a part of our makeup, namely, our “why and purpose.”
If you are always chasing the ever present dangling carrot in front of you, you will miss whats right here and right now staring you in the face.
There is an old Moody Blues song called “Watching and Waiting”, which inspired my message today.
For a friend to play with
Why have I been alone so long
Mole he is burrowing his way to the sunlight
He knows there’s some there so strong
The things you’ve always been denied
There’s no one here to stop you trying
‘Cause I’ll be all around you (I look at this as God is all around me NOW).
But don’t be alarmed by My fields and My forests
The things you’ve always been denied
So look and gather all you want to
There’s no one here to stop you from trying”
